Yesterday's and today's football.

It's just 6 days to the beginning of Eurocup, usually I would be excited but not this year, as I've decided to ignore all the Eurocup matches (more on this matter here).
Anyway, everytime that a big football event is about to begin, the football-mania explodes all over in all the medias. This week a popular TV network is broadcasting the highlights of the last 30 years' World cup and Euro Cup.
Tonight I've watched Italy-Germany 3-1, from the 1982 World Cup. I remember watching the match as a child, but that's not the point.
The point is that both the teams were playing an excellent football. I mean, if it wasn't for the odd haircut here and there, it could be a match of this year. Usually if you watch a sport event from 30 years ago things look a lot different from today, but not in football. The quality of the play is the same.
In the video below the highlights of Italy-Germany 1982:

Players look a lot different, but that's not a good thing.
1982's players looked like specialized machines to play football, with large quadriceps, thin arms and an overall light upper part of the body. Todays' football players look like tattoed supermodels, they are overpaid but they don't play better football.
Sports should evolve and become better and better, not turn into fashion shows.
